Summary: Discontinued Model - no support 2008-11-21
Comment: We purchased this ice maker in December 2007. It stopped working a few days ago (November 2008). Comes with a one year warranty - guess what! No longer made, and waring no longer supports it. No parts or repair. Waring is refunding the purchase price to us.

Summary: Spend the extra bucks 2008-07-11
Comment: This product makes ice, but does not store it. So at any given time, you have a small basket filled with melting, almost clear ice. I returned mine after it broke in the first 24 hours.

Summary: Exasperated 2008-04-02
Comment: Think twice about buying this product. I've had two in a row out of the box that did not work. Waring customer service is laughable. There is no troubleshooting guide in the manual or for the company. So if anything goes wrong w/ it (other than you not getting crystal clear ice) all they can tell you is take it back to the merchant or ship it back to them (at your expense). And as for customer service, here is what you'll hear if you have a problem: "I'm very sorry, but there is nothing we can do."
I'd steer clear of this clunker and go w/ another brand. I wish the system had let me award 0 stars.

Summary: Only portable ice maker that doesn't make slush 2007-09-14
Comment: I've been through several different ice makers and most of the other ones that cost ~$200 (i.e. Kitchenaid, Edgestar, Haier, etc.) produce ice that is barely frozen. Think slush. What this means in practice is that if you fill a glass to the brim with ice from those cheaper models and pour in tap water, the ice will be completely melted in about 10-15 minutes. In other words, unless you are drinking water or intending to water down your beverage, these ice cubes don't do the job adequately. Enter the Waring Pro WIM30. The reason they advertise "Clear-Ice" is because the ice that comes out of this product is actually solid ice. This ice lasts much longer than the slushy ice, about as long as ice cubes you would make in a tray in your freezer. (slighly smaller cubes and more surface area on each cube since they've got a hole going through them, so not quite as long) The price on this unit is about twice that of the cheaper models, so it's a steep price. However, because of the watered-down (alcoholic) beverages I managed to produce with the cheaper ice makers, those products were not actually usable for me, so their cheaper price is irrelevent.
