Summary: Good cooker 2008-11-02
Comment: The Waring deep fryer is everything I thought that it would be. Probably the best 110 volt fryer you can find on the market. My family is well pleased with the results. They love the onion rings using the recipe in the Waring cookbook.

Summary: The best deep fryer I have ever purchased 2008-10-24
Comment: I have purchased several deep fryers and I was always unhappy until now. This is the best fryer ever and at such a great price. Very easy to clean, large frying basket and the best part of all - it heats up very very quickly. Normally with my other deep fryers I was waiting 15 to 20 minutes for the oil to reach the frying temperature and now it takes me about 5 minutes or less. You will not be disappointing with this fryer at all.

Summary: What a piece of junk. 2008-07-28
Comment: OK, so this is my first deep fryer. It might be my last. If they are all as crappy as this one, then I'm going back to a big pot and a thermometer.
The Waring Pro DF250B would not work out of the box. After about five minutes of pleading and cajoling, I jiggered the control head and the power light came on, briefly that is. The control head sits on a slim plastic "pin" that functions as a safety cutoff switch in the event that the fryer gets jostled. Problem is, it is way too sensitive and even when the fryer is on rock solid ground, it will not engage to let the fryer operate.
I eventually took a piece of a fireplace match and jammed the control head in place. Even then it arbitrarily shut off whenever it felt like it.
By the way, the fryer came with a printed warning stating that the underside of the unit might have sharp edges. That was the understatement of the year. It was so sharp that you could shave with it.
This appliance was engineered by an idiot.
So finally the unit's on and the oil is heating. Don't ever believe that 1800W is enough to fry more than four or five french fries at a clip. It takes forever and then some. The fryer struggled to keep the temperature set by the thermostat. The "ready light" was off more than it was ever on. One hour's electricity for a couple of spuds? I would have been better driving ten miles to my local fast food joint for a french fry fix.
The vendor had the fryer to me in record speed. I am now going to find out how long it will take to send this piece of junk back for a refund.
Bottom line - save yourself a big headache - deep-six this deep fryer.

Summary: Good, but there is better 2008-07-11
Comment: Good fryer. Worth maybe 100 bucks. The only issue is cooking temp, it doesnt quite get hot enough, not even to the max temp on the temp knob. I am happy to cook fries with it, but anything else I fry on the stove because this thing takes a lot of oil and once I cook like chicken strips, the fryer oil needs to be changed sooner. A oil hog for sure. Real easy to clean, very good looking. Makes the kitchen greasy because of the lack of proper filtration....but not horrible. I'd probably get a dual zone fryer next, but this thing is big....just doesn't get hot enough to put big things in it. Would have been a 5 star rating otherwise.
