With its gallon-size oil reservoir and a powerful 1800-watt immersion element, this deep-fryer cooks large quantities of food quickly and crisply without that greasy fried food feeling. Simply fill the tilt-out, heavy-duty mesh basket with food, lower into the hot oil, and monitor progress through the glass window. The domed lid ingeniously catches condensation and channels it away, keeping splattering to a minimum. Built-in safety features include a breakaway cord, automatic shutoff if the unit gets too hot, and indicator lights. Also, the unit will not operate unless all parts are securely interlocked. Summary: Cord failure on model DF200 2010-01-29
Comment: We liked the performance quality of the Waring Pro Deep Fryer, but we've only used it a handful of times to find the magnetic power cord won't keep a connection.
I would not recommend purchasing model number DF200 or any other model number with this cord type! It was an expensive product purchase for no longer than it lasted.

Summary: Good Deep Fryer...but almost almost shorted out 2009-10-10
Comment: We got this deep fryer 5 years ago as a wedding gift. Usability and cooking wise, its a great appliance.
However this summer, as we were plugging it in, as we always do to use it (it has a magnetic plug on the back, kinda like a MacBook Pro) the cable would not stay attached. My husband took an initial look at it, and one of the magnetic posts on the fryer itself, for the plug to go into, seemed to be recessed. After jiggling it a few times and propping it up with various items so that contact would be made on the back so that the electricity would go through, we were able to have the deep fryer light come one the unit get electricity into it.
Convinced that a screw was loose, (making the post on the back of the fryer, recess on its own) he took the back off the temperature and timer dial assembly, to get a better look at it... We realized that this was not a "loose screw" situation, but a melted post... the magnetic connector on the back of the fryer had MELTED. Upon further inspection of the wires, we saw that the red and the black wire's insulation (the plastic that covers all wires) had indeed melted together.
We could have had a fire. So keep an eye on this thing, and don't walk out of the room when using it OR when its just plugged in (on or off).

Summary: Plug fails, no replacement parts available 2009-08-29
Comment: Liked the fryer, we expected because we were buying a waring pro, that it would be an appliance that would last for years. But, we were wrong. After owning it 3-4 years, the plug failed. It is a magnetic plug design that cannot be repaired. Waring has discontinued the model and doesn't support it with spare parts for the plug. Evidently either they are trying to avoid liability or the plugs had such a high failure rate that you cannot find one anywhere. Other parts are available. I would expect them to support their products and customers better.

Summary: Excellent fryer 2009-07-07
Comment: My mother kept asking for a deep fryer so I researched and ended up buying this one. It is an excellent fryer for large parties when you need to make a lot. I use it mostly for Vietnamese egg rolls. Just put in about 15 rolls, set the timer to 7-10mins at 350 degrees, and I'm done. No need to watch over it to turn the rolls like I used to do with a frying pan. There is a place to hang the mesh basket for the oil to drain before removing the food. I did not find the window in the lid much useful b/c it fogs up during frying making it hard to see. We have used it for sweet potato fries, fried chicken, and fried shrimp, even fried fish! It is a breeze to clean as well. Other family members have borrowed this from us many times for their party needs.

No more fryer. Just a doorstop. My advice is to purchase a fryer that's going to last. I probably used this fryer 15 times in the last year, and that's obviously 1 time too much.
If you think I'm unlucky, then go ahead and buy it! Just remember, you were warned.
