Not the best fryer I have owned and not the worst either. We bought this as an upgrade to our older unit. It comes with 3 baskets which is very nice, heats up in a reasonable amount of time. Problem is in recovery time. Once you put something in the oil, eg fries, the oil temp drops like a rock and takes forever to come back up. The oil temp drops about 75 degs. immediately. Temp probe was off by 50 deg.
It does what it is supposed to just not very well. I recommend spending a few more $$$ on a better unit. If you have your heart set on this 1, buy the unit without the digital controls. The way they are setup is poor in design and renders the timer useless.
UPDATE 5/4/12
Been just over a year since we purchased and the unit has slowly crapped out over the last few months. We are not heavy users either. Fry maybe once a week. After an hour of heating, temp won't go above 220 deg.
Guess next up will be the Breville fryer. Twice the money but...Read more

Yes I do like this appliance for its size and the fact that it is dishwasher save when disassembled. But, there seems to be a few more things I didn't like. 1.) you have to set the timer to put it on. Normally not a big deal but with it being digital and only an up and down arrow it takes awhile. Also be sure to set it long enough to do all your cooking. 2.) The lid doesn't quite fit with basket in. Just a bit awkward. 3.) You can't store it with oil in it. With the lid a bit awkward and has slit type holes (I guess I would call them holes)there is fear of something getting into the oil(bugs,dust,etc.). All in all it serves its purpose but to say easy clean would be a stretch. The only way to empty is wait till it's cool and pick up the inside pan and pour into something else. It's large so it's heavy and a good chance of making a bigger mess trying to clean one up. Wish I would of know this before I bought it.

When I first purchased this deep fryer it completely stopped working after only 2 uses. I went through all the troubleshooting (pressing the reset button for the thermostat) and nothing. It was dead. I wrote a negative review about it here on Amazon. The seller contacted me and apologized for the faulty deep fryer. They went as far as to send me a brand new replacement one free of charge. I appreciated the gesture and took down my negative review which they appreciated. Today I decide to use the replacement deep fryer for the first time. Since I used this model before I knew exactly how to set it up and turn it on. At first it worked fine, then it started to smoke and actually caught on fire. I was able to put the flame out quickly. Good thing I didn't leave the kitchen or who knows how bad it would have gotten. This happening to 2 of the exact same model deep fryer in a row is no coincidence. This is a poorly constructed product. I see other reviews say the deep fryer works fine...Read more
