Product Description
Remember that catchy line "Honey, it's time to make the donuts"? Well, you may start hearing that phrase a lot once you start making your own delicious donuts at home. And then there are fries, fritters, and a whole range of scrumptious foods that can be made economically and deliciously right in your own kitchen. Amazon.com Review
Fried food is comfort food--think French fries, doughnuts, or shrimp tempura--and almost everyone craves it at some time or another. But it can be kind of messy to make at home. The Presto CoolDaddy electric deep fryer is an easy-to-use, self-contained frying unit, so there's practically no mess. The hinged lid with its large viewing window eliminates spattering altogether, while a mesh charcoal filter keeps odors to a minimum. The CoolDaddy fits easily on most kitchen countertops, and its look is compatible with a variety of kitchen styles. It's made of off-white, stay-cool plastic with modern contours and gray-and-red accents. The removable nonstick oil pot holds up to eight cups of oil or four pounds of shortening, and can accommodate up to six servings of food at a time. A sliding thermostat button allows the oil to be heated up to the optimum frying temperature of 375 degrees F. An indicator light to the left of the handle goes off when the oil has reached the desired temperature. The frying basket's handle extends and locks to lift food in and out; fold it down neatly for storage or to lower the food into the oil. (That can be done with the lid closed, so there's no spattering at all!) The power cord has a magnetic safety connection, so that if the unit is jostled during cooking, the cord will disconnect, shutting power off immediately. After frying, unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before attempting to empty oil. Wash the removable pot and frying basket in warm water with mild detergent and a nonabrasive sponge or cloth. The cool-touch plastic base is not immersible; wipe with a damp cloth to clean. The lid gasket is removable and should be cleaned periodically. The mesh charcoal filter should be replaced after approximately 10 to 15 uses. The Presto 05445 CoolDaddy measures 12 by 11 by 10-1/2 inches (handle extends an additional 4 inches). Presto guarantees this product with a one-year limited warranty. A detailed instruction and recipe pamphlet is enclosed. --Garland Withers

Summary: great fryer 2005-04-13
Comment: I only gave it 4 stars because it is so big and takes up so much space on my counter. Other than that I love it because no more splatters in my kitchen from frying and it heats nicely and fries to perfection.. Plus the pan is removeable for washing. (Love this feature the most) No more worry about getting the electrical components wet when trying to wash it! because there are none on the removeable pot..

Summary: Great little fryer! 2005-01-21
Comment: We bought this little fryer for our football snacks but cook a lot more than wings in it. It's great for french fries, homemade onion rings - we even made homemade donuts. Doesn't heat up the kitchen or create grease-spatter messes. Enjoyable and safe to use, and we've given a few as wedding and shower gifts and always had them well-received. Great value for the price.

Summary: An excellent starter deep fryer... 2004-12-28
Comment: I picked up one of these for my wife for Christmas, but we ended up breaking it out early. We weren't sure how much need we had for a deep fryer, so the price was worth it for getting started.
Thus far we have tried french fries, perogies, wings, and battered fish. We tried the fries and the wings with and without spices before putting it in the basket. All came out wonderfully.
Additionally, the unit is pretty solid and safe while cooking, which is important to us because we have young kids. While we supervise at all times, kids being kids still try and sneak pass our careful watch. Ours does not splatter, leak, or do anything else that would pose any danger that we wouldn't be able to react to in time to prevent while properly supervising the unit.
One thing we did notice, however, is that the food takes a lot longer to cook than the times listed in the instruction book. My impression is that the unit does not heat the oil as quickly as medium to higher end deep fryers.

Summary: Great Deep Fryer! 2004-03-08
Comment: I received this for my birthday and am very pleased with the performance. We've used it at least 10 times in the last month, from small batches of food to large batches of chicken wings and everything has come out perfectly. I've never used a deep fryer before so I figured there would be a learning curve for getting the foods cooked right but there doesn't seem to be one...couldn't be easier to use and clean up is a snap! Love the removable inner pot!

Summary: BFLO Wings and things 2004-01-14
Comment: My Boyfriend loves this fryer, He is from Buffalo and craves traditional wings like those made in Buffalo NY. He uses this at least once a week. It is perfect for making small batches of fried goodies. I love the fact that it keeps him from distroying my kitchen when he makes fried foods. It never splatters beyond the unit itself. Great fryer for small batches or when one person likes fried food and the other dosen't.
