I have had this appliance for about 2 months. It fries chicken golden brown and fries to die for.
It does take 15 to 20 minutes for the oil to heat up, because it is capiable of cooking over a lb. of food.
I am lovin my oster fryer. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine.

I had a car like this (Chevy Vega GT) it was a great looker but, mechanically, it was a total failure. This Oster is the Vega of deep fryers. We brought it home and set about cooking fish and chips... It took 25 minutes to heat the oil and then when we fried the french fries the oil cooled down so much that they soaked it in. We needed to wait at least 10 minutes between batches for the oil to reheat. The battered fish came out as disappointing. I really liked the ergonomics but the designers short changed this unit on heating coils... rumor is that deep fryers should heat up the oil hot enough to fry something, duh. Not Recommended

got rid of my fryer after only a few uses because the grease would over-flow a minute or two after putting the food in. would have only used once but wanted to make sure i didnt do something wrong. tried putting in new oil, checked the level and still it was over flowing. extremely dangerous and made a mess!!
