Summary: Great product 2010-03-11
Comment: Well, you can fry in just about anything as I have over the years. The key, of course, is maintaining the oil temp throughout the process. That's what makes this fryer do what it's supposed to do so well. It is well made & the drainage feature is worth the price alone. If you just don't overfill the oil (I put it in the middle between low & high), and use common sense, you will have no issues. Basically, it will pay for itself in saved oil in a year or so. Do yourself a favor......buy it

Summary: I just love it !!! 2010-02-11
Comment: I love my new kitchen toy !!
The only thing is it tells you to change your oil to soon. I used the oil a few more times before I finally changed it out. I can live with it.
Spend the extra $ for a good tool !!

Summary: A little better than "OK" 2010-02-10
Comment: I really like the feature that provides a filter for the used oil and drains into a built-in container - very convenient, no mess. I also like the big fry basket. What I don't like is that the fry basket sits on the heating element. Although this doesn't seem to affect the quality of the cooked items it raises the basket about a quarter inch and when you put the lid on the fryer it sits on the basket rather than the lip of the fryer. That leaves a gap where exploding oil gets through and leaves a mess. The other issue is that the oil doesn't get hot enough but I guess that is a safety issue and is true of all electric deep fryers that I have had over the years. I would rate this fryer just a little bit north of "OK".

Summary: T-Fal fryer 2010-02-09
Comment: I have had this unit for over a year now and could not be happier with it. It heats up fast and will hold a lot of stuff. I make tortilllllia chips and it will do about 25-30 chips at a time.
I also deep fry chicken wings and this will do 10-12 at a time without dropping the temperature.
I highly recommend it for easy clean up as all the parts come apart to go into the dishwasher
even the power cord comes off of the control/heating unit to make that part easier to clean.

Summary: Overrated and overpriced! 2009-12-27
Comment: I expected a better product. The contruction is flimsy. The use of plastics instead of stainless steel throughout is baffling as it makes the housing unstable. Clean-up is not a cinch. Do you know how hard is is to clean oil from plastic? The heating element has to be cleaned by hand... it is not immersible. The bottom portion of the oil storage tray should have been made of stainless. The plug-in cord is too short and barely plugs into the unit. There isnt an on-off switch.
The fryer doesnt decrease frying odors significantly. The oil saving feature is also a waste unless you are frying really small portions i.e. a couple of batches of french fries. I fried 4# of battered Tilapia for Christmas. Before I completed the batch the change oil light was on... so much for straining and saving. As soon as summer rolls around, I will undoubtably go back to frying outside with my $60 propane pot/burner! I can wait 3 hours and strain or chuck the oil myself. I wish that I could return this one! It is no T.V. marvel.
