Delonghi Dual Zone w/ Oil Drain Deep Fryer

Once the poroduct arrived, I prepared it for my use a few days later. I followed each instruction on setup in the manual, including pre-cleaning and then drying, and I then waited another two days before trying to use the unit. After poring the oil in the frying bowl, I tried to connect the electrical cord to the unit and the electrical receptacle. What a surprise: it didn't work. The electrical cord attaches to the unit via a magnetic handshake but the unit just does not get any power. I called DeLonghi customer support and was told that the control unit needs to be put in place properly. I spent two hours of frustration playing with this to no avail. I called Chefs Catalog and they happily will send a replacement unit, no matter what position I placed the control unit and no matter which of the buttons I pushed.
