Product Review

No better tool to remove food from fat and remove fat from simmering broths or bouillon.

Amazon.com Review

Renowned worldwide for its cookware collections, All-Clad now makes kitchen accessories, and that's welcome news to serious and professional cooks. This 13-inch skimmer with a 4-1/2-inch-diameter head is a perfect example of the tools' professional-grade quality. It's made of heavy 18/10 stainless steel that is polished to a mirror finish. The handle, which features the same famous design used in All-Clad's cookware, is grooved on the top and rounded on the bottom for comfort and holed in the end for hanging on a hook or peg. The skimmer is slightly cupped for removing foam from broths and for scooping out, say, gnocchi or dumplings from boiling water; plenty of holes ensure the cooking liquid stays behind. All-Clad tools are dishwasher-safe and carry a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

All Clad utensils are made in China for the most part, but I still have a full set of tools with several add on tongs, fish turners, etc. The skimmer just isn't as functional as the pure mesh style skimmers. Sure it can skim out large items like bay leaves, bones, etc., but the foam and other minuscule items you really need to strain out just pass on through.

This purchase I probably should have returned. The large and hand held mesh strainers may need to be replaced every few years, but they do the job with far more efficiency.

The build quality of the all clad strainer is very high as usual, but the functionality isn't there.

I bought this skimmer approx. one year ago and I use it more then I ever thought. Great kitchen utensil. And yes - it looks good and the quality is all there - the last one I'll ever have to buy.

This is the best quality skimmer I've ever seen, but it is so heavy that its functionaly is in question. Hence, 4 stars instead of 5.
